Why Donate?

The House of Refuge Sunnyslope thrives because of the generous donations from our supporters.  Since we are a qualified 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, anything you donate falls under the IRS guidelines for charitable donations. All your donations help support the hopes and dreams of the people who find their way into our program.   

Types of Donations

• Vehicles - we accept vehicles that can be used for resident transportation, for general pickup and delivery of goods used in our program or possibly to be sold to one of the qualified residents.  
• Food - we always need dry goods and are happy to accept food items.  If you are interested in helping keep our pantry stocked, please call our office to see what we need.
• Clothing - many residents come to our program with little more than the clothes they are wearing.  We provide them with additional shoes and clothing until they can get employment to purchase their own.  We also have frequent yard sales where used clothing is always popular. 
• Items for HRS yard sales - items can be dropped off at the HRS office where we will sort out things our residents can use directly and everything else will be offered for sale.  Anything not sold will be donated to another charity.
• Furniture - some furniture is used in our program and the rest is sold at our sale. 
• Time - volunteers are a valuable part of the success of our program.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, check out our Volunteer Opportunities!
• Money - since we don't receive any government funding, we rely on resident fees, proceeds from our yard sales and other fundraising events, and of course the generous monetary donations from churches and individuals.  If you are interested in becoming an HRS donor, here are some suggestions for making monetary donations.
  • Write a check to House of Refuge Sunnyslope and mail it to 9835 N 7th St, Phoenix, AZ 85020.  You will receive a tax receipt for all donations. Learn more about how Arizona residents can qualify for the Charitable Giving Tax Credit. 
  • Bashas' Shop & Give program - Link your Bashas' Thank You Card to the HRS ID (24508) and Bashas' will donate 1% of your grocery purchase to HRS. 
  • Valley of the Sun United Way - designate House of Refuge Sunnyslope (323451) for your funds when you sign up for United Way donations through your employer campaign or donate directly via their website.
  • Ask your employer if they have a company sponsored employee charity donation program. Some companies encourage their employees to make charitable donations via payroll deductions and match a percentage of the donation.
  • Encourage your church to sponsor House of Refuge Sunnyslope in their missionary program.
